Established in Laval in 2000, EDR Packaging offers great packaging products with incomparable customer service.
Due to our expertise, we can guarantee competitive prices to all our customers. Beginning in early 2005, we have developed oxo-biodegradable bags made with the EPI technology.
The EPI Technology
Since the existance of this new technology, many companies, such as grocery stores and pharmacies, have moved towards long-term preservation of the environment.
This new technology consists of adding to the base material (the plastic), an additive (TDPA: Totally Degradable Plastic Additives) in which the principal activity is to accentuate the bio-degradation of the plastic into fine particles not visible to the naked eye once it is covered in the soil (compost) or depending on exposure conditions. In this way, once the plastic bag is buried, the EPI technology begins to work, with the stress and movements of of everyday life, the sun, the quality of the soil and heat disintegrates the plastic into fine particles, which in their turn will be redued to carbon gas, water and biomass. It is to be noted that the ink that is used in the production of these bags is water based, therefore non-pollutant, and that the concentrated colors used on the polyethylene are non-toxic for the environment. The total process varies between 18 and 24 months before the plastic is completely bio-degradable. Hopeful that we can help you improve the state of our environment and give future generations a chance!
